Transforming life through language learning

I joined the 90 days to IELTS course feeling skeptical about whether a three-month program could really make a difference. To my absolute joy, for the first time, I achieved a Band 7 or above in all four skills right after the course ended. This allowed me to start my migration process, which I had delayed for so long.

While I put in the hard work, Meredith played a very important part in my success. She was incredibly supportive, tailoring lessons to my weaknesses in Speaking and Writing. She took extra time and effort to coach and motivate me right before the exam and even taught me how to calm my nerves before the speaking test, my biggest fear.

Meredith’s dedication and genuine care for students’ success make her an exceptional educator. I feel so lucky to have crossed paths with her, and I recommend her to anyone who wants real results.

Meredith’s previous experience as an IELTS examiner was crucial in preparing for the IELTS, as the feedback she gave me was reflected in the results of my IELTS score. Connecting with Meredith was also very important as she genuinely cares about students and puts a lot of effort into marking, planning the sessions, providing practise tests, and providing effective feedback and valuable resources. The most helpful part of the course was the feedback from the writing and speaking tasks. Meredith always guided us in improving our writing and speaking through constructive feedback.

In my opinion, all the activities we did during the 90 Days to IELTS course were useful. All the resources Meredith uses in her sessions help students to improve the language proficiency in different areas.

The most challenging part was losing confidence and committing to IELTS 100%. IELTS is a test that requires dedication, commitment, and the belief that it is possible to achieve the scores needed without hesitation. When I started the course, I thought that I was not going to be able to pass it on my first attempt, and then I did! Meredith always highlighted that I would pass the IELTS, which helped me gain confidence. I appreciate Meredith’s kindness and generosity and making the time to mentor students individually to focus on students’ needs.

Thank you for coaching me!

I experienced six sessions. Before I started the coaching course with you ( Meredith), I was very confused about my speaking, like how can I improve my speaking. Also I really feared to talk to other people who do not know Chinese and even I did not dare to go to shops, supermarkets an
d shopping mall alone. However, when I finished the first session with you ( Meredith), I tried to talk with my foreigner classmates, even though just a short conversation. You (Meredith) always were patient and encouraged me to speak more and. When I could not express myself well, you tried to guide me. Every time we finished the coaching course, I felt more confident and I was willing to speak more and speak with foreigners in English. In terms of writing, I always did not finished it in certain time. You tried your best to find my advances and problems in writing(advances: answering the question, having good grammar and good structure; problems: lower speed) and give me useful advices(speed copying). Also, you gave me some useful information, like the good place to study, entertain, travel. I know you made me more comfortable to live in Melbourne. Thank you so much! Before I started coaching sessions with Meredith I was experiencing so many changes in my life that made me lost confidence in myself. I had always been a very confident woman. However, when I moved to Australia from my home country Venezuela, after failing many times an English test I needed to approve to change my legal status from student to permanent resident, I started feeling that I was not good enough and that perhaps the goal that I had set for myself was impossible to reach. Not only this, but also homesickness was almost pushing me to quit.
I remember that in our first session we started working in the belonging feeling. By that time I felt that I belonged nowhere, because I did not belong to Venezuela anymore as I had left the country, but I did not belong to Australia either. I was also going out from a relationship and thought that I would no longer be able to find anyone else. Meredith helped me to find the way to start feeling that I belonged here and that no matter the obstacles, I would be able to sort them out. We worked with visualizations and affirmations, among other tools.
Although the path was not easy I was able to succeed in the IELTS English test. But more than that, during the process I started recovering the trust in myself. This has been the biggest growing process I have experienced in my whole life and Meredith was always there to help me to find the right answer. She never told me what to do, instead she led me to find out what was the best decision to make by myself.
After I passed the test I almost immediately obtained permanent residency (PR), then I got a professional job in a multinational company after having been working as a cleaner and waitress for more than a year. I also started a new relationship and all the pieces started to fit in. I could say that my life changed overnight but actually it was the result of some months of coaching sessions and hard work being now materialized.
The best outcome I have gotten from the coaching sessions is the way I have learnt to face problems. This is something that I will continue applying for the rest of my life, if at some point I feel that I need some coaching again, I will come back to Meredith again. I would also highly recommend to anyone who is struggling in any aspect of their life, to invest in the coaching with Meredith. For me, the benefits you can get are largely more valuable than the money and will always remain with you.

I heard about Meredith in Latinpreneur group. I was looking for someone to help me with editing copy of my new website. They recommended Meredith because she helped some of them and the results were amazing. She helped me to edit my website copy and think about how to phrase what I wanted to say in English. I wish to submit feedback on my experience with Meredith’s mentoring in preparation for my IELTS exam.

I did not book for a whole course as I did not have much time to prepare before the exam. After discussing the options available moving forward considering the time constraints, we made a plan that also suited our schedules and followed it through.

I am happy and proud to say that we did it! We attained more than 7.0 in almost all components of the IELTS exam (listening- 7.5, reading- 7.5, writing- 7.0, and speaking- 8.0). Since I last sat for the IELTS exam in 2018, my scores were as follows: listening- 6.5, reading- 6.5, writing- 6.5, and speaking- 7.0. My test scores went up by one band even with limited preparation time.

I am truly grateful and humbled by this. It is indeed a testimony of how amazing Meredith is and the difference she can make in the lives of others. She is very understanding, non-judgmental and encouraging in the way she mentored me. She saw potential in me and areas that I needed to work on. As a Christian, I would even say that I am very blessed to have such a wonderful mentor like her. Thank you so much for introducing us at just the right time when I really needed help.
